As a not-for-profit organization, Citizens With Disabilities – Ontario (CWDO) is dedicated to ensuring that people with disabilities have equal access to all aspects of society.
Through community development, social action, and member support and referral, Citizens With Disabilities – Ontario (CWDO) actively promotes the rights and freedoms of persons with disabilities. People with disabilities in Ontario face a variety of social and physical hurdles that hinder them from fully participating in society. The board of directors of CWDO is made up of people from around Ontario.
First and foremost, CWDO connects with its members across Ontario through this website. Our members can participate in CWDO’s research and advocacy efforts by submitting position papers and presentations. Check out any links that ask for opinion.
CWDO’s work and aims are prioritized by a variety of committees. Email is used extensively for communication between meetings. Committees are only as active as their members. The IDEAL Conference Centre hosts committee meetings virtually. The IDEAL Conference Centre is made available to CWDO at no cost thanks to the generosity of our donors.
The IDEAL Conference Centre is where our board of directors meets once a month. Codes of ethics and operating protocols have been established for CWDO’s board of directors.
How CWDO Was Funded
A not-for-profit status is the present status of CWDO. For this reason, we are in the process of registering as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and will be able to better serve our members and the wider public.
There is no cost to join. There are those who contribute money to CWDO as they can afford it. Donate to Citizens With Disabilities – Ontario and join the expanding number of organizations that support our work.
The Council of Canadians with Disabilities (CCD) provided us the initial support for our organization (CCD). Since June 2009, we have served as CCD’s Ontario representative.
